Ideas for Change

“Putting Community Back in Community Projects”

Too often, decisions are made about us, not with us. I believe in flipping that script.

- Community Advisory Panels: Before the city breaks ground on a road or revamps a park, I’ll propose forming small, diverse panels of local residents to guide priorities and give real-time feedback.

- Neighborhood Action Grants: I’ll push for small grants that allow residents to lead their own improvement projects—like planting trees, painting park benches, or adding signage in high-traffic areas.

- Volunteer Mobilization: Let’s bring back civic pride with organized park clean-ups, mural painting days, and “adopt-a-road” programs that empower residents to take ownership of their public spaces.

- Pop-Up Listening Sessions: I’ll commit to holding regular informal chats in parks, libraries, or coffee shops to hear directly from residents—not just at city hall.

PLATFORM STATUTES

CRIME AND PUBLIC SAFETY

Community-Based Solutions

- Neighborhood Watch Groups: Encourage residents to keep an eye out for each other and report suspicious activity.

- Community Events: Hosting regular block parties or clean-up events builds trust among neighbors, which naturally deters crime.

- Youth Engagement Programs: After-school and weekend programs give younger residents a positive outlet and stronger ties to their neighborhood.

Design & Infrastructure Changes

- Better Lighting: Installing more and brighter streetlights reduces opportunities for crime and helps residents feel safer at night.

- Traffic Calming Measures: Speed bumps, narrower roads, and pedestrian crossings slow down cars and increase safety for walkers and cyclists.

- Clear Signage & Street Names: Easy-to-read signs help first responders and discourage illegal behavior.

Technology & Innovation

- Surveillance Cameras: Strategically placed cameras in public areas can deter criminal activity and assist investigations.

- Community Safety Apps: Platforms that allow neighbors to report issues, receive alerts, and stay informed in real-time.

- Smart Doorbells: Devices with cameras and two-way audio help residents monitor visitors and deliveries.

Partnerships with Authorities

- Police-Community Outreach: Programs that build positive relationships between law enforcement and residents make people feel safer and increase mutual trust.

- Regular Patrols: Encouraging visible and routine patrols of the neighborhood discourages crime.

TAXES

"A Smarter, Fairer Future for Our City—Together"

When residents pay taxes, they deserve to know where every dollar goes—and to feel those dollars working for them. I'm running for city council to bring clarity, fairness, and innovation to how our city collects and uses your hard-earned money. Here's how:

- Transparent Spending: I will champion participatory budgeting and easy-to-understand reports, so residents see how funds are spent and can help shape local priorities.

- Fair Tax Solutions: I believe no one should be taxed out of their homes. I'll advocate for income-based relief for seniors and, and push for tax structures that reflect what people can pay—not just what they own.

- Smarter Revenue, Better Services: From green incentives to user-based service models, we can raise funds in ways that are fair and future-focused—without leaning on across-the-board tax hikes.

- Efficiency That Pays Off: With regular performance audits and smart technology investments, we can ensure every department delivers real value for every tax dollar spent.

This campaign isn't just about better taxes—it's about a better, more accountable city for everyone. And that starts with us.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

"Building a Stronger Community—One Road and One Park at a Time"

I believe the foundation of a thriving city lies in how we move and how we gather. Our roads and parks aren't just infrastructure—they're the arteries and lungs of our community. If elected to city council, here’s how I’ll ensure your tax dollars deliver real value, right where it counts:

- Reinvesting in Safer Roads: I’ll fight for clear priorities in our roads budget—filling potholes faster, repaving worn-down routes, and implementing traffic-calming measures in high-risk zones. Every dollar spent should mean smoother, safer, more reliable travel.

- Greener, Greater Parks for Everyone: Our parks should be beautiful, accessible, and well-maintained. I’ll support funding for more playgrounds, shade structures, and inclusive recreational facilities—spaces where every generation can unwind and connect.

- Transparency in Every Project: From budgeting to completion, residents will see where funds go and what they accomplish. You’ll never be left wondering why a project stalled or where the money went.

- Smart Spending for Long-Term Impact: I’ll advocate for modern road materials that last longer and sustainable landscaping in parks that cuts maintenance costs while preserving beauty.

- Your Voice, Your Priorities: Through participatory budgeting, I’ll make sure you help decide which roads get fixed first, and which park upgrades matter most.

We can’t fix everything overnight—but we can build trust and progress when our tax dollars are visible, responsible, and rooted in the needs of real families.
